Privacy and your child’s photo
Last updated October 2026
Bravelings is run from Newcastle, NSW. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, email hello@bravelings.co.
What we collect
- Details you type to personalise the story: your child’s first name, age, pronouns, appearance choices, and the situation you describe.
- A photo of your child, only if you choose to upload one.
- Your email, and your shipping address if you order a hardcover.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Your child’s photo
- You can only upload a photo if you confirm you are the child’s parent or guardian.
- We remove location and camera data from the file when it arrives.
- The photo is used for one thing: drawing your child’s character in your book. It is sent securely to our illustration provider for that purpose only, under terms that prohibit using it to train their models.
- We delete the photo as soon as your book’s illustrations are finished. If you never complete an order, the photo is deleted automatically within 30 days.
- We never use photos or stories to train AI, never sell them, and never use them in marketing without your separate written permission.
Your child’s story
The story is written by an AI model from your answers, then saved so you can read and download it. Your book lives at a private link that only you hold. You can ask us to delete your book and all its details at any time.
Who we share with
- Our AI story and illustration providers, only to make your book.
- Stripe, to take payment.
- Our printer, for hardcover orders: the print files and your shipping address.
- Our email provider, to send your book link and receipts.
Some of these providers are based overseas, including in the United States.
